The Sun Voyager (Icelandic: Sólfar) is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located near by the city center, not far from HARPA Concert Hall – next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland.
Sun Voyager is described as a dreamboat, or an ode to the Sun. The artist intended it to convey the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom.
Many people think Sólfarid represents a Viking ship but that was not the original intention.
Sólfarid – An ode to the sun, has become one of the most popular attractions in Reykjavik, photographing is very popular and getting the perfect Midnight Sun image of the sculpture is a must while staying in the capital in June.
